FINALLY, the main circuit

I went alone this time since The Turd got the later slot ): But he moved up to the second lesson anyway ): HO HUM.

So I went straight to the mini-circuit practicing the whole first-gear-switch-to-second-gear-back-to-first-gear. The instructor was sooo encouraging by saying that I was almost there but not quite there yet -.-

Then, when the mini-circuit got crowded from the bike station people, I was finally moved up to the main circuit. I got about two warm-up rounds switching to second gear and then I tried the third gear. So scary please! I went quite fast it was so cool cans?!

But I kept going rather fast at the turns so there was this round that Melvin came along and ‘took care’ of me and I made many, many mistakes D: I kept forgetting to close throttle the moment I switch gears and when I came to a stop, I forgot my clutch so there were moments my engine just died in the middle of the road D: Plus, not to mention there were noob drivers out there D:

Now I sound like a turd x_X

Hopefully, I will do better tomorrow AND PASS MY STUPID LESSON ONE! I can’t believe I’m still stuck at the first lesson after three bloody practicals. ARG!

To change gears

I think I regret not booking a slot this afternoon since I did not go for my training so I did my e-learning online and read the Handbook for Motorcycle Rider.

  • close throttle
  • squeeze the clutch lever quickly and fully
  • step down on the gear shift pedal to change to a lower gear or lift the pedal with your toes to change to a higher gear
  • release the clutch lever gradually after you have selected the correct gear
  • turn the throttle grip toward you to increase speed

I need to memorize this (:

Clutch in, kick up, throttle…

The Turd and I were late for our second lesson D: All because turd face was late -.- Even I was early despite the fact that I had to rush to City Hall to buy a pair of black jeans (because I forgot to take them out of the wash the night before) and run to the lockers to get my helmet.

Anyway, I was wondering how I should react should the instructor make a huge fuss over our lateness when it turns out that it was not necessary after all.

The Turd moved up to the circuit ): while I got stuck in the mini-circuit warming up with my first gear. After about three to four rounds, the instructor finally taught me how to switch to second gear. So all I had to do was start off with first gear, switch to second gear at the first bend, accelerate, brake and switch to first gear before coming to a stop.

It took me some time to get the hang of the whole process because being the non-mechanical kind of person that I am, I had to understand how the hell the motorbike works and operates with the engines and brakes and gears and clutch and whatnot.

And I keep forgetting to clutch in whenever I switch from neutral gear to first gear and ended up killing my engine half the time XD

There was this point when I successfully did a perfect round with the switching of gears that when I returned, the instructor gave me a nod of approval and I got so excited that I threw both fists in the air and exclaimed (rather childishly) “YEAH!” and that meant I released my clutch and my engine died.

The look on that instructor’s face was so funny I nearly laughed out loud. But I laughed at myself instead for being so silly XD

It was SO FUN riding round and round. I mean, yeah, I wished I could do what turd face was doing: riding around the circuit. But riding alone keeps the adrenaline pumping into my blood that it was so exhilarating I did not quite mind that I’m still stuck with the beginners (:

OH! I met Yas! Haha! I was so stunned to see him at the first lesson, wearing the red bib. Apparently his license got revoked or something. I could not catch what he said since he was talking so fast in his melayu accent XD

And after rushing out of SSDC, I bumped into M brother! It was so good seeing him but I was rushing (not to mention all sweaty as well. YUKS!) so I just gave him a quick hug and ran off XD

First Prac

I just got home from my first practical and it was quite a blast! ;D

I met The Turd at the same place and we walked to SSDC to take our ID photos and to get our package (like our progress book (wait, is it a progress book?), insurance receipt, books and elbow and knee guards). Then it was time for orientation and we had to don on this horrendous-looking bib (that kept slipping off my shoulders half the time since they were rather wide) and listen to our instructor (Melvin) who chastised us for being late :/ Well, we were waiting in a long, long line for our paperwork to be done, after all.

So, Melvin was going through the rules and telling us about the centre itself and about the lessons. And as I looked at him, I wanted to laugh out loud because he reminded me of a friend who looked like LPXX.

He went through the basics of the bike and the gears and the brakes. He also showed us how to release the bike from its stand and how to bring the bike up should we fall down.

Then there was a break before our first practical lesson.

I texted Big Bear to tell him that I was finally taking my riding lessons and he gave me a call to see how I was doing (:

We did a short exercise before our practical. Apparently, it was compulsory and pretty simple. Just some neck, side and back stretches. And after going through my practical, I think it would do us good to do some hand and palm stretches as well ;p

We were assigned to a bike each and those with experience went off to try riding around a small area. The Turd went along with them since he said he rode a bit but was sent back with us at the bike station because apparently, he knew nothing after all XD

(Okay, it’s pretty mean of me to laugh at him but serve him right! XD)

We were told to get onto the bike and I realized that THE BIKE IS FREAKIN’ HEAVY CANS. And because my right leg is stronger, I got used to putting my left leg up. But because the stupid rear brake is on the right side, we have to mount and dismount from the left and keep the left leg on the ground instead of the right. And since the bike is so FREAKIN’ HEAVY, my bike fell on the left and hit the guy on my left D:

SO EMBARRASSING CANS?!

We learnt how to change gears, start the engine, move, accelerate and stop. And we practiced that over and over at the bike station. I SUCK AT THIS ): I got so used to jamming my brakes when I was cycling so whenever I try and tap the brake lightly, the bike hardly stops so my instinct was to jam brake D:

Melvin kept reminding me over and over not to jam break. BUT I CAN’T HELP IT D: So eventually, all the guys get to ride around while I got stuck at the stupid bike station T_T

So I practiced and practiced under the hot sun ): But it was fun starting the engines ;D

After I (more or less) got the hang of it, Melvin finally released me ^_^ I got to ride with the guys around. Basically, I was supposed to keep my gear at 1, go straight, make the turns and brake at the STOP area, switch to neutral gear and push my bike to the starting point, and go again.

MY FIRST RIDE WAS SO NICE! V(^_^)V

But my subsequent ones were pretty lousy. BUT IT WAS SO FUN! I love the throttle XD The sound of the engines running pumps the adrenaline into my blood and IT’S SO FUN PLEASE! XD

Finally, it started raining pretty heavily so we parked the bikes. Our slot was almost up anyway.

Well, we didn’t pass our first lesson ): So The Turd and I rushed to book our next slot which is available tomorrow! (: And because I had no moolah (again), he paid for me first (:

I CAN’T WAIT FOR TOMORROW~

Enrolled

So after calling and calling The Turd, that turd face finally woke up and picked up my call -.- But by then, it was pretty late. So we walked to SSDC (mind you, under the very warm afternoon sun) and saw this really, really, really long queue D: So turd face asked the lady behind the counter about enrolling for a Class 2B and she said it was going to take a while, judging by the queue.

Then she dropped the bomb: WE COULD ENROLL ONLINE! o_O

When we heard that, we gave the -_-” face. Seriously, I went all the way up north to find out that I could enroll in the comfort of my own home! )< So, after work, we went over to his place where we finally just enrolled online. Rahhs.

And turns out that the next available slot for a practical was next Monday. WTP )< The Turd has got a paper in the afternoon so that means I need to struggle to wake up at 9 in order to get to YCK by the alloted time at 11.30.

Then again, maybe I can keep the BITE graduate company at the Mac Drive-Thru :D

Oh, well. Cost me slightly over 100$. And The Turd lent me the moolah :D
